2015 Summer Park Concerts Start July 12

The first park concert of the summer will feature Atomic Groove on Sunday, July 12, 2015 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm! The concerts are held at the Carmel Valley Recreation Center (3777 Townsgate) in the Amphitheater by the parking lot, and are FREE to everyone. We encourage you to bring your family and friends and enjoy an evening of outdoor music and dancing in the park. Bring your own blankets, beach chairs, food and drinks! Free CV Library Concert, July 8, 2015

July’s free family music program sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be held on Wednesday, July 8 at 7:00 p.m. in the Library’s community room. It will feature pianists Dominic and Angelo Pizarro in a program of jazz standards and selections from The Great American Songbook with music by Gershwin, Sinatra, Duke Ellington, and more. The program will last 45 minutes. Homeschooled and raised with an appreciation and love for music, brothers Dominic and Angelo began studying classical music at the age of three and a half in San Diego. With encouragement and support from both their mother and grandfather the boys continued their zest for music and later developed an avid interest in jazz and pop. One Paseo City Council Hearing, Monday, May 18, 2015

The Protect San Diego's Neighborhoods coalition is looking for you to attend the One Paseo Hearing, where the City Council will determine if they overturn their previous approval of the One Paseo development, or if they send the issue to the voters. For Carmel Valley, it would be best if the project was overturned right now, rather than having to wait another year for a decision.
The hearing is being held on Monday, May 18 at 1 p.m. at Golden Hall, located at 202 C Street in Downtown San Diego (adjacent to the City Administration Building). The Coalition says, "Help us defeat THIS One Paseo once and for all by attending the hearing and wearing red (including your No on One Paseo t-shirt and button)!"

Touch a Truck event at CCA, May 31, 2015

Max's Ring of Fire is holding it's Touch a Truck Fundraiser on May 31, 2015 at Canyon Crest Academy. For additional information, see TouchATruckSD.com or download this flier for the event. This is a Fundraiser for kids cancer, and includes food trucks, live music, roving entertainers, face painting and a TON of vehicles where you can Climb on, Climb in, and honk the horn.

Gonzales Canyon Clean-up event, May 17, 2015

Gonzales Canyon Clean-up event! Please come out and join your friends and neighbors in helping to maintain our trails. Get exercise and do something good for the community! This Sunday, May 17th 1-4 pm, though we usually finish sooner! Meet at the Sword Way Trail head. Come join us for a post-rain canyon and creek litter pick-up and brush clearing. Robotics Summer Camp at CCA, Summer 2015

This summer, CCA's High School Robotics Team 3128 is proud to offer a week of fun where campers from 5th to 8th grade can come and build awesome robots, run around, and have fun. All week we’ll be using robot sets to build robot that complete complex challenges that teach campers mechanical and programming skills, while getting them excited about engineering and technology.

Not only will we get students going on build robots, they’ll also get to compete against each other by trying to score the most points in our end of the week competition. And every step of the way we’ll have counselors and staff alongside them to make sure they get the guidance they need to reach their goal.

The camp costs $450 per week, lasts from 9am-3pm each day, and lunch is provided. Visit the Team 3128 Website to learn more or register.

CV Library Free Concert, May 13, 2015

Boys & Girls Club Youth Arts Music & Food Trucks, May 16, 2015

The Polster Branch of the Boys & Girls Club is holding their "Commotion by the Ocean" festival on Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. The event will be at the Carmel Valley Polster Branch Field, 3800-A Mykonos Lane. This 7th annual rock and roll picnic concert is family and community friendly and will feature 14 of Youth Arts Academy’s student created bands. The rock bands that will be performing consist of talented young musicians who have a passion for music. There will also be food trucks serving pizza, burgers and Kona Ice. TPHS Electronics Recycling & Shredding, April 25, 2015

Torrey Pines High School will be holding a community electronics recycling and paper shredding event this Saturday & Sunday (April 25 & 26) to honor Earth Day. Hours are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Electronics recycling is free and accepts most items (See flier. No flourescent bulbs, no alkaline batteries, no large appliances, no microwaves, no smoke detectors.) Paper shredding is $5.00 per file box. Paper and Electronics will be collected through out the event hours. Paper will be stored in 64 gallon bins until the shred truck arrives to shred all the paper on-site at the end of each event. 100% of all paper is shred ON SITE at the end of each event. Some items not accepted for shredding, see flier.
