The Carmel Valley Recreation Council will meet on a SPECIAL day, Wednesday, July 19, 2016 at 7:00 PM at the Carmel Valley Recreation Center (3777 Townsgate Drive.) Sorry about the late notice! The CV Rec Council Meeting Agenda is attached here, or see the CV Parks Page for additional information on parks in the community and their operation. The agenda includes a bunch of administrative items like Bylaws, new programs, printed brochure content, etc.

CV Parks & Permits

If you want to use a community park for a large group, reserve a space for a party, put up a party jump, etc., or if you want to run a commercial operation in a park (professional training, sports field use, etc.), you may need a permit. For the parks NORTH of the SR-56 freeway, call the CV Rec Center at 858-552-1616 (see the CV Brochure for more info.) For parks SOUTH of SR-56, call the Ocean Air Rec Center at 858-552-1687 (see the Ocean Air Brochure for more info.)

Final One Paseo Documentation, June 2016

The City Council approved the One Paseo project at their recent meeting. That approval was for a very specific project. Going forward, it's reasonable for the community to watch that what was approved is actually what is built. Here's a link to the final One Paseo Documents from the City Council Meeting on June 27, 2016. This includes community plan updates, ordinances, project plans, and the FEIR.

Summer Movies in the Parks, 2016

Here's a listing of the summer movies in the local parks. Ocean Air is showing Minions on July 8. Carmel Valley is showing The Good Dinosaur on July 16, and Sage Canyon Neighborhood park is showing Inside Out on August 12. Bring your blanket, pillow and/or beach chair to these fun and free events. Come early and enjoy activities for all ages. Events start at 6:00pm, movies start at dusk. One Paseo at City Council, Monday, June 27, 2016

Council President Sherri Lightner's office issued the following press release on Monday's One Paseo hearing:

The San Diego City Council will hold a hearing on the New One Paseo development project on Monday, June 27, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Golden Hall. Due to the anticipated interest in the project, Golden Hall will open to the public at 12:00 p.m., and public comment on the project will be limited to two minutes per person. This project has been revised from the original One Paseo project that was heard by the Council in 2015.

CV Library Free Concert on July 13, 2016

The Carmel Valley Library Family Concert Series presents Clarinetist Philip Lipton on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 7:00 pm at the Carmel Valley Library, 3919 Townsgate. Philip Lipton, a native of Charleston, South Carolina, brings true passion and inspiration to every performance. He has performed at concert stages across the United States, including Carnegie Hall, as well as in Canada and Spain. His most recent solo show is titled “The Influence of Benny Goodman.” The program will include an eclectic array of styles from Bach to Goodman to Paquito D’Rivera. Philip performed this program at the San Diego Central Library’s Winter Concert Series and more recently in West Palm Beach, Florida, and Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He received his Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of North Florida, where he studied clarinet with Guy Yehuda. Mr. Lipton holds a Master of Music degree in Performance from the Jacob’s School of Music, Indiana University, where studied with James Campbell.

CV Planning Board Agenda, June 2016

The Carmel Valley Community Planning Board (CVCPB) will hold it's regular monthly meeting on Thursday, June 23, 2016 from 7:00 to 10:00 pm at the Carmel Valley Library, 3919 Townsgate Drive. The Agenda is attached here. The Agenda includes information on the New One Paseo project, a presentation from the Solana Beach School District on their long range plans & bond proposal, an update on the downtown "Citizen's Initiative", an update on the El Camino Real Bridge Widening Project, an update on this year's Kaaboo concert at the fairgrounds, an update on signage rules in the local area's street right-of-way, and a presentation to name a trail in honor of long-time resident Marvin Gerst. There are no action items on the agenda. Additional information can be found attached here, at the CV Planning Board Page on this site, or on the City's website at the Carmel Valley, San Diego Community Page. The "New" One Paseo project is scheduled to be heard by City Council on Monday, June 27, 2016 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Golden Hall, downtown.
