There is a new mixed-use development planned in Carmel Country Highlands (Carmel Valley South of SR-56...Neighborhood 10 – corner of Carmel Country and Carmel Mountain Roads – formerly known as Carmel Highlands Square), which is now known as “Merge.” A presentation on the updated "Merge" development has been scheduled for this Wednesday, June 12, at 6PM at the Torrey Hills Hilton Garden Inn, 3939 Ocean Bluff Ave, San Diego, California, 92130. This neighborhood 10 parcel, formerly owned and planned by Pardee has been purchased and redesigned by Sea Breeze Properties. The approved development is all retail, while the new proposal includes a mixture of retail and housing. The goal of this meeting will be to have the time to review the proposed project in detail, including what traffic is allocated and uses are allowed in the existing Community Plan and its environmental documents. The developer will also be in a position to show the architecture and any changes they will have made based on the feedback received to date.

June’s free family music program sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be presented on Wednesday, June 12, at 7:00 p.m. in the library’s community room. It will feature the Trio con Brio, San Diego performing music by Shostakovich, J S Bach, Gaspar Cassado, David Popper, Beethoven, Schumann, Lizst, and Mendelssohn. Trio members are violinist Shirley Wu, cellist Meagan Wu, and pianist Stephen Ai, all juniors at Canyon Crest Academy. The concert will last 45 minutes. Join the Carmel Valley Library in June and July 2013 for the Summer Reading Program: “Reading is Soooooooooo Delicious!” Individual programs for Children, Teens and Adults, and everyone can earn prizes for reading! The Max's Ring of Fire Touch A Truck San Diego event is this Saturday, June 8, 2013 from 10am - 3pm at Qualcomm Stadium. This is San Diego’s Original Touch A Truck. A family-friendly car show is a sure hit with kids and parents alike, as all the vehicles are open for you to climb in and honk the horn! From military vehicles to monster trucks, Harley's to HumVees, classic cars to emergency vehicles, big rigs to construction rigs. Touch A Truck will please your palate, too, with 20 gourmet food trucks, lemonade "experience", plus two live music stages, roving entertainment, Star Wars Characters, Shamu and even Ronald McDonald. Aqua Edge LLC will be holding a free water safety demonstration at Cathedral Catholic High School on May 18, 2013 from 10:00 to 11:00 am. The event will include a special guest appearance by 2008 Olympic Water Polo Silver Medalist Moriah Van Norman. Watch as Moriah demonstrates swimming strategies and techniques with her daughter Ava. The San Diego Blood Bank has opened a new Carmel Valley Donor Center in the Piazza Carmel shopping center, 3880 Valley Centre Dr., Ste 209 (in the middle of the center, behind the food court.) A Grand Opening celebration is scheduled on Friday, April 19 at 11 a.m. The hours for the new Carmel Valley Donor Center are: Friday to Monday from 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM; and Tuesday from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Anyone 17 or older, who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in good health may be eligible to donate blood. A good meal and plenty of fluids are recommended prior to donation.
