CV Planning Board Community Forum on One Paseo

The Carmel Valley Planning Board is holding a community forum on the One Paseo Project on September 24th, from 9:00 am to noon, at the Ocean Air Elementary School's Multi-use Room. One Paseo is a proposed multi-use development at the corner of Del Mar Heights Road and El Camino Real. The development would include commercial space, residential, hotel and retail components. Come and express your concerns or support for the project at the community forum. The Ocean Air Elementary School is located at 11444 Canter Heights Drive, south of SR-56. See the One Paseo section for more posts on this subject and the One Paseo image.

Update: Just to note that the One Paseo website is fairly biased in favor of the project (it's run by the developer!) The opponents of the project have asked me to post a link to their website, www.WhatPriceMainStreet.com. Go there for the other side of the story.

waste no energy on Kilroy

The development company will always a$k for 100% more than they really expect, do not waste any energy on them.  All opinions need to be directed to our planners, asking them to reign back the developers. Remind them of our community plan,  our families and  lifestyle.  Demand the project  be modified to fit our neighborhood. We do not want  a Cheesecake factory or low income housing. The development company is so smug that they have a website to lease this space that has not even been re zoned.

Corporate greed!! Do you live here?

**This plan is not good for our community. We do NOT need: low income housing, a bus stop,  boring chain shops and restaurants, hotel, another movie theater, 10 story office building, More traffic and more stoplights.  The amount of traffic and crime that will be attracted to such a place is too dangerous for our neighborhood, it is near five local schools.

It will lower our homes' values and make our streets dangerous.  Families who live here do not want this development.  Please do not let a giant Los Angeles based developer ruin the character of our area! This is our chosen home, stay away!

Talk about greed

Hey NIMBY - We do need low income housing and a bus stop.  Where are all the workers in the service industry supposed to live?    You are worried about traffic, yet you don't want bus service?  That makes no sense.

I live off High Bluff.  So, yes - I do live here.   Stop claiming you speak for everyone in the community.

ha ha you are clever

"not in my backyard".

haha so funny.

Low income housing brings

Low income housing brings crime, we have never had a bus stop!  How long have you lived in this neioghborhood? We have been here 17 years and never had a need for a bus stop.  Sorry I do not know nimby.  Are you concerned about our safety and the safety of our kids? All this will lower home values and add crime. Are you a homeowner?

One Paseo

For those who attend, keep in mind that the watercolor sketches they will show you -- also seen on http://onepaseo.com -- are misleading. That's because they show dozens of people casually walking for every one car on the road. Most pictures show 1 or 2 small cars on the road and beautiful people freely crossing the street. We know that is fantasy. In reality, this is a noisy 4 or 6-lane road with traffic to/from the parking garages, theater, etc because that's how developers build. Our planning board should demand a slow, narrow 2-lane road, with pedestrian-friendly features like road-narrowing at intersections, etc. Primary access to parking garages should not be along the "paseo" where people are supposed to be walking.

of course it's misleading...

.."Do you trust this corporation ( and planning boards) to care for our families, homes and neighborhood?? " Really, the only ones who matter are those who live here.  They must deal with this major development 24 hours a day, every day of the year. It's easy to build, collect profits and move on to ruin other's lives.
