The TubaFours at the Carmel Valley LibraryMay's free family music program sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be presented on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the library’s community room. It will feature The TubaFours, with Frank Baker and Paul Henkart playing tenor tubas or euphoniums, and Jim Hooper and Bill Riddell playing bass tubas. Their program will include John Philip Sousa’s Washington Post March, The Pink Panther, Sixteen Tons, The Wabash Cannon Ball, Mozart’s Eine Kliene Nachtmusik, Rossini’s William Tell Overture, and Sea Tubas, a unique medley of sea chanteys. A Second Free Music Event at the CV Library, April 18, 2012

Japanese ChorusA special free family music program in April sponsored by the Friends of the Carmel Valley Library will be presented on Wednesday, April 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the library’s community room. It will feature Japanese Chorus Kaguya (Kah-goo-yah), a group of individuals who love to sing Japanese songs with a harmony of voices and hearts. Its program will include old and new songs, all of which have been popular in schools and homes for many years. Some are beloved traditional folk songs, and some are recent pop songs. Musical instruments will accompany a few of the songs including percussion for Kaze ni Naritai (I Want to be Wind). All songs will be introduced in English, and no Japanese knowledge is necessary to enjoy the performance. The program will last 45 minutes. It will feature vocalist Allison Adams Tucker and pianist Danny Green in a musical walk through the history of jazz, a truly American original art form. It will highlight some of the classic jazz standards from its birth to the present -- from Al Jolson, Thelonius Monk, and Cole Porter to the modern day jazz masters. The program will last 45 minutes. An Evening of World Music at CCA, March 23, 2012

Gamelan Festival 2012CCA will be hosting the Gamelan Festival 2012 this Friday, March 23, 2012. This festival, sponsored by The Center for World Music will include a performance by the CCA Gamelan Orchestra. Six Javanese and Balinese gamelan orchestra groups will be featured, with dancers and musicians from both San Diego and Los Angeles. Live Jazz at the Town Center Starts March 16

Live Jazz at the Town CenterThe Del Mar Highlands Town Center will feature a Live Music program on Friday and Saturday nights beggining March 16, 2012. These Jazz performances in the Upper Plaza begin at 6:00 pm and include artists such as Keith Jacobson, Hank Easton and Jose Molina. Two New Italian Restaurants at the Town Center

Del Mar Highlands Town CenterDavanti Enoteca (858-519-5060) and its sister restaurant Mia Francesca (858-519-5055) have opened in the Del Mar Highlands Town Center. Located adjacent to the Cinepolis theater, they should bring a taste of Little Italy to Carmel Valley. Davanti Enoteca is a restaurant and wine bar with more sophisticated food, while Mia Francesca is more casual, with a family atmosphere.
